WhatsApp, sometime earlier, launched a web version of its service. It allowed users to have an easy access via web browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Safari. What was missing from the list was support for Edge browser. Microsoft assured, the browser would be supporting the service in the upcoming update, but failed to provide any time frame to placate the grumbling users. Nevertheless, there is a workaround that allows you to use WhatsApp in Edge browser.
Using WhatsApp in Edge browser
When you open WhatsApp in browsers like Opera, Safari or Chrome, you are directly taken to page that displays a QR scanning code. However, in the Edge browser, you cannot find this QR code. To get it, try the following.
Open Edge browser and navigate to WhatsApp Web URL in Edge browser. You will find the webpage displaying the following page (spanning QR code).
Simply, hit ‘More Actions’ button, go to developer tool or click on F12. You can find the Edge browser requesting you to enable WhatsApp.
Click on Emulation Tab in F12 developer tools. Here, you will get an option to change User Agent String, which you will find under Mode section. Change it from Microsoft Edge to Opera/ Chrome/Mozilla Firefox. All the options can be seen by clicking the drop down menu.
Now, go back to the first tab where you tried opening WhatsApp web in Microsoft Edge browser and refresh the tab. Instantly, a QR code scanning code should be visible to you. Scan the code using the WhatsApp app on your mobile. that’s it! you are now all set to use WhatsApp in your Microsoft Edge browser.
See, if the method works for you and do let us know about it in the comments section below.
